Influences of Welding Parameters on Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum and Magnesium: A Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract. Friction stir welding (FSW) is an important joining process wherein two dissimilar metals and alloys are welded together using frictional heat produced in a revolving tool workpiece. FSW playing role material of Magnesium (Mg) Aluminum (Al) materials due to the increasing demand for their industrial applications. In this review article, research background processes, influences factors on tensile strength, micro-hardness, microstructures Al-Mg alloy have been studied. The effects example axial force, speed, incline, offset characterizes enlightened make defect-free aluminum magnesium alloys. microstructural behaviors intermetallic formation drift zones were also studied find scope improve quality.

Analysis and Comparison of Friction Stir Welding and Laser Assisted Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum Alloy

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a solid-state joining process; i.e., no melting occurs. The welding process is promoted by the rotation and translation of an axis-symmetric non-consumable tool along the weld centerline. Thus, the FSW process is performed at much lower temperatures than conventional fusion welding, nevertheless it has some disadvantages. Laser Assisted Friction Stir Welding (LAFS...

Bimetal friction stir welding of aluminum to magnesium

FSW material flow and phase transformation were studied at the interface of dissimilar welding of Al 6013 to Mg. Defect free butt weld was obtained when aluminum and magnesium test plates were placed in the advancing side and retreating side respectively, and the tool was placed 1 mm off the weld centerline into the aluminum side. In order to understand how the materials flow during FSW, steel ...

Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum Alloys: A Review

Friction stir welding is a solid state joining process. High strength aluminum alloys are widely used in aircraft and marine industries. Generally, the mechanical properties of fusion welded aluminum joints are poor. As friction stir welding occurs in solid state, no solidification structures are created thereby eliminating the brittle and eutectic phases common in fusion welding of high streng...

Review: friction stir welding tools

Friction stir welding (FSW) is a widely used solid state joining process for soft materials such as aluminium alloys because it avoids many of the common problems of fusion welding. Commercial feasibility of the FSW process for harder alloys such as steels and titanium alloys awaits the development of cost effective and durable tools which lead to structurally sound welds consistently. Material...

On the Characteristics of Friction Stir Welding Lap Joint of Magnesium and Aluminum

Lap joints of commercially pure magnesium plates to aluminium plates (Magnesium plate on the top, and Aluminium plate, grade 1100, on the bottom side) were conducted by friction stir welding using various traveling and rotation speeds of the tool to investigate the effects of the welding parameters on the joint characteristics and strength. Defect-free lap joints were obtained in the welding tr...
